Music is tough business for upcoming artistes — Weiser

One of the new musical acts in the growing Nigeria Afro beat scene is Adekunle Boluwatife Oluwagbemileke who goes by the stage name Weiser. He has evolved from an ordinary street music act to emerge on the stables of Hydeli Records, under which he is now having his music tutelage. He is subtly taking the Nigerian music industry by storm with his uniquely spiced Afropop sound.

Weiser is a talented singer and a songwriter who is leaving no stone unturned to get his music career to its peak.

Growing up, Weiser was inspired listening to the likes of Qdot, Olamide, Seyi Vibez, Zinoleesky and Young John and is musically influenced by Tope Alabi and Esther Igbekele.

Speaking on his artistry and influences, he said that, “I grew up listening to mostly gospel artistes like Tope Alabi, Esther Igbekele, etc. Their danceable songs made me love music as a child and made me want to do music too”.

Speaking about the challenges he had encountered while pushing his music in the industry, “I have encountered a series of challenges including not having enough funds to pay my producer, bloggers, etc. Music is a tough hustle for upcoming artistes. I’ll go to shows, beg to perform.  There was a time one of my former producers back then told me to come for a show, I got there and he snubbed me immediately we got there. I started hustling to perform on my own, the MC kept telling me to calm down until everyone left, only two people were left when the MC later called me to perform”.

He doesn’t have a particular genre which his music is classified under, but he describes his sound as “a new flavour of spiced Afropop” and says the situation around him drives his music and greatly influences his songs.

In 2023, Weiser released the ‘Logrhythm’ EP, a body of work that contains eight tracks. He is officially signed to the Hydeli Records.
