NECA rejects ban on alcoholic beverages in sachets, small bottles

The Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association, NECA, the umbrella body for employers in Nigeria, has rejected recent ban on alcoholic beverages in sachets and small size bottles, describing it as an economic sabotage.

Speaking in Lagos yesterday, NECA’S Director General, Adewale-Smatt Oyerinde, called for immediate reversal, warning of its employment implications.

“The unintended consequences of the ban on the production of alcoholic beverages in sachets and small bottles by the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC, are better imagined than experienced,” he said

Oyerinde said: “The recent ban on the production and sale of these products is not only wrong but also inconsistent with the current economic situation, the current unemployment rate and the inability of customs effective border control
